What is Young Alumni Admissions Link?
YAALink is a partnership between the the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Duke Alumni Affairs that utilizes young alumni volunteers to help recruit newly accepted students into the freshman class.

When and how will I communicate with the student?
After opting-in in March, you will receive an email from the DAA informing you that you have been matched with a newly accepted student. This email will contain the email address of a newly accepted student, whom you should contact to share your impression of life at the university.

How are students and alumni matched?
We have created a matching algorithm to connect prospective students and alumni. The matching process is done before the students opt in or opt out, so it is feasible that the student with whom you are matched will not choose to participate. If this is the case, we will keep your name in reserve and will re-match you if possible. Alumni and students are matched based on the following criteria, depending on the criterion preferred by the student: zip code/country, ethnicity, school (Trinity or Pratt), or gender.

Who are the alumni in the program?
All alumni one to three years out are invited to participate.

Can I meet with the student or alumnus/a in person?
The purpose of YAALink is to connect newly accepted students and alumni virtually. If you and your match would like to meet in person to continue your conversation, you are welcome to do so. If you do choose to meet in person, we suggest that these conversations take place in public and that the student has received permission from his or her parent or guardian to do so.
