Fall Arts Weekend - November 6 and 7, 2009
The Duke Alumni Association and the Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts invite you back to campus to be an inspiration to current students by participating in the 2009 Arts Weekend on November 6 and 7.
Arts Weekend is a three day, student-centered program that will include social events, networking opportunities, and alumni panels. Each panel will consist of three to five alumni grouped by career focus -- film/TV, visual arts, performing arts, and music -- who converse with Duke students about their fields in a discussion/question-and-answer format.
Make sure to check out the schedule.
If you have specific questions about the Arts Weekend, please contact Sarah Schoofs at sarah.schoofs@daa.duke.edu. |

DEMAN Kick-Off - April 14, 2009
Duke successfully launched the Duke Entertainment, Media, and Arts Network (DEMAN) on April 14th, 2009 at the Fox Studios kick-off
event in Los Angeles. Over 200 Duke alumni and friends turned out to learn about this network and Duke's commitment to the arts
from Duke leaders, Michael Schoenfeld '84, Vice President for Public Affairs and Government Relations, and Scott Lindroth, Vice
Provost for the Arts. They also heard from a panel of Duke alumni in the industry about how their Duke educations played a role
in their successes and how alumni engagement can help the university's strategic initiative to strengthen the arts at Duke. The
alumni panel included:
- Bob Yeoman '73: cinematographer, has worked on over 40 films including The Darjeeling Limited and The Royal Tenenbaums
- Jack Coleman '80: actor, currently appearing on Heroes
- Fred Goldring '79, P'13 (moderator): senior partner of Goldring Hertz & Lichtenstein LLP, former chair of Rock the Vote
Many thanks to those who helped launch DEMAN, and we look forward to continuing the momentum with an event in New York City
this fall! If you have not already volunteered for DukeConnect to network with students and alumni, we highly encourage you
to do so at www.dukeconnect.com.
Thanks again, and we will be in touch about additional ways to engage with the DEMAN network and future events as these plans unfold.
