Forever Duke

The pages that follow are the Duke Alumni Association's roadmap for the next half decade, the culmination of a process that began in October of 2004. Hundreds of members of the Duke community have been involved in that process along the way.
From the start, we saw a strategic plan as the right step in making a very good alumni organization better and able to meet the needs of its constituents, some of whom are not yet a part of it. Our university has been fortunate to have had the leadership of engaged alumni and staff over the past decades. We believe that we should be at least as diligent now as were past leaders if we are to sustain and advance Duke's relations with one of its most precious resources - more than 120,000 alumni and friends.
It has been my very great privilege to lead the association during the planning period for DAA Strategic Plan. I ask that you consider our plan with an eye to Duke's future. It is important to the Duke Alumni Association and its Office of Alumni Affairs that our proposed path over the next five years is clear and understood by all of those who we hope will join us as we make that journey.

After a year and a half of listening to our alumni volunteers, campus leaders, and the staff of Alumni Affairs, we are proud to present this far-reaching document that will guide us over the next five years. We recognize that our alumni body is growing more diverse as each class graduates. Our charge is to engage them, and re-engage our past graduates, with new initiatives and programs that speak to all our needs.
Along those lines, our new website will be the linchpin in connecting our alumni to career services, specialized events, expanded benefits, and to one another through online class notes and active outreach to our affinity groups.
Our active clubs, alumni admissions advocacy, and ever-expanding reunions programs celebrate Duke, across the nation, around the world, and back home on campus. We welcome your comments as you rediscover what your alumni association has to offer.
Forever Duke,
Sterly L. Wilder ' 83
