Vita & Virginia
Coming to Duke from its 2008 Off Broadway revival, "Vita & Virginia," a play by Eileen Atkins, deftly weaves the letters and diaries of Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West into the story of their friendship. The aloof literary genius Virginia and the aristocratic yet middle-brow novelist and poet Vita sustained an improbable, briefly physical and emotionally enduring relationship up until Woolf's suicide in 1941. Actresses Kathleen Chalfont and Patricia Elliot recreate their title roles as intimate and understanding friends who can fully respond to each other's sentiments and words, words in which "Dear Mrs. Woolf" quickly gives way to "My dear Virginia."
Time: 2:00 p.m.
Cost: Free. Space is limited and reservations are required, please click here.
Lunch: For pre-theatre lunch or brunch reservations in the Nasher Café, please call (919) 684-6032.
